She is sex-positive and comfortable discussing sexual issues in session.
Two books that inform Jessica's treatment approach, and that she recommends to clients, are The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz and The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown.
Jessica says, "Often in life we try to problem-solve in the best way we know how, but we may become stuck trying many different approaches, but not getting the results we are looking for. This may be because we are trying to problem-solve without truly understanding the underlying issue at hand.
"My goal is to provide support and align with my clients, to assist in getting to the root of issues instead of remaining at surface level. This often offers more clarity and understanding of our emotions to improve our ability work through challenges at the source.
"The example I like to use is: If you have a child that keeps slamming the door, sure you can take the door off the hinges, but more than likely they will begin acting out in some other way. That is because the door wasn’t the issue, there is something underlying that has not been addressed."
Jessica was raised with a parent in the military and was born in Germany. She moved all over the world as a child, before finishing high school in Virginia. Her escape has always been reading, especially a "good sappy romance" or mystery novel. Jessica is also the mom to a daughter who loves all things girly. She says, "So much of my time at home with her is spent in singing, dancing, doing makeup, and in princess dresses."
Jessica is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor and practices under supervision. Schedule with Jess today!
